Shobha Iyer currently works as a Big Data solutions architect. Coming come from a strong Big Data engineering background, she also has over 16 years of extensive work experience in the financial sector. On the technical front, her foundations are deep rooted in object-oriented programming using OOPS, SOLID principles combined with experience in database development platform including OLTP for RDBMS and building ETL applications using OLAP for Data warehouse (OLAP). Over the last four years, Shobha Iyer transitioned to working on Hadoop ecosystem and NO SQL databases (HBASE, Hive and some exposure to Cassandra). She has experience in developing applications in Waterfall and agile environment (using SCRUM), working with continuous integration tools such as Cruise control and Team City. Experience using source controls such as SVN, GIT, Bit Bucket and Perforce. With over 20 years of programming experience, covering a wide range of technologies from C++, C# .Net, SPARK, Scala, with some exposure to Java and Python. Embraced robust coding practices such as using DI/IOC containers, and using rigorous testing frameworks such as TDD/BDD. Build a wide range of applications using concurrent, multithreaded programming model for real time trading applications. Shobha successfully executed projects as a technical consultant for a broad range of financial clients in a range of roles such as technical analyst, developer, devops, team lead, and a solutions architect.
