Our journey began over twenty years ago as a business idea conceived by two founders fresh out of school. Today, Virtual Minds is one of the leading Ad Tech providers in Europe. Our systems handle hundreds of thousands of requests per second and produce multiple terabytes of analytical data each day.

 

In this talk, we share our story from a technical perspective. We delve into how our tech stack evolved from a single Perl script running on consumer hardware to a highly available, distributed system that spans five data centers and a private Kubernetes cloud. We discuss the various dimensions of scaling that we experienced, the lessons we learned, the problems we solved, and the shortcuts we took along the way.
